Rumer Willis praises mom Demi Moore’s ‘vulnerability’ in new memoir

Rumer Willis says she’s so “proud” of mom Demi Moore and her “vulnerability” following the release of her tell-all memoir, which recounts her past struggles with family and drugs — including being estranged from her three daughters as her relationship with now-ex-husband Ashton Kutcher was crumbling.

One of the most shocking stories from “Inside Out” is Moore’s near-death experience at a party she attended with Rumer in 2012, where Moore suffered a seizure after combining nitrous oxide and synthetic marijuana. Already estranged from daughters Scout and Tallulah and their father Bruce Willis at the time, the incident put Moore and Rumer at odds for over a year.

“I think so many women have watched her, and just as her daughter, I’ve watched her, as this beacon of strength and this kind of leader,” Willis, 31, said on “The Talk” Tuesday. “What I really respect about her is that she is never the victim in her stories. She takes accountability. She takes responsibility, and mind you, this is her perspective, her story, and she’s the first one to say that.”

She added, “She’s allowing herself to show everyone that you can go through some really difficult, hard things, and you can still be someone who is thriving and taking accountability and just being a strong survivor without being, ‘Oh, I survived this and this is who I am because of this story.'”

Moore talks at length in the memoir about parenting her three daughters and how she and Bruce handled things following their divorce in 2000. She details the family coming back together after everything that happened.

“It was hard work getting here,” she writes. “But I wouldn’t trade what I have with them now for an easier journey. We all took separate paths, but we’ve ended up in the same place. After what we went through, we no longer take our relationships for granted … I’m so grateful we all have one another.”

The memoir also addresses her relationship with Kutcher, a devastating story about being raped at age 15 and a claim that she took Jon Cryer’s virginity, which he denied on social media last week.
