Jenny McCarthy: Brooke Shields should be thankful she didn’t get ‘View’ job

Brooke Shields recently revealed that she lost out to Jenny McCarthy for a job on “The View” — but McCarthy says Shields should be thanking her lucky stars.

“I’m friends with her, I love her and I think she knows deep inside that I took one for the team, because let’s just face it: That was hell. Hell. So you’re welcome, Brooke,” McCarthy told a caller on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” Tuesday when asked about the topic.

McCarthy, 46, has been outspoken about despising her short-lived gig on the ABC talk show, previously saying, “I’ve never seen a woman yell like that before until I worked with [co-creator] Barbara Walters.”

“Every day I went home and I was miserable,” McCarthy said in Ramin Setoodeh’s 2019 book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View,’” (via Vulture). “It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business.”

On last Thursday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Shields said she was considered for the “View” panelist spot left vacant by Elisabeth Hasselbeck in 2013 but that McCarthy was hired instead.

Calling the former Playboy model a “friend,” Shields, 56, then quipped with a laugh and a few pointed looks about the show’s producers’ decision-making, “You want one or the other — I think they were going for something different.”
