Nancy Pelosi dropped impeachment hints at VIP dinner Monday night

A roomful of VIPs, including Richard Gere, had strong hints that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment move was about to happen the night before her announcement.

Sources told Page Six that Pelosi attended a VIP dinner for about 70 people at the St. Regis on Monday, hosted by Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan and Tina Brown to kick off UN General Assembly week.

Also at the gathering were prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, Katie Couric, former HBO boss Richard Plepler, Arianna Huffington and “The English Patient” star Kristin Scott Thomas.

A source said that in conversations with guests, Pelosi gave a very strong signal about her impending impeachment inquiry announcement. Said a source, “She made reference to Democratic members coming around from conservative districts,” and that, “an important announcement would be made after the Democratic caucus met” on Tuesday.

An insider added, “She left a very clear impression … people walked out of that dinner with the perception that impeachment was on the horizon, and the speaker was going to be endorsing it.”

Also at the gathering were Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum, Bloomberg News’ John Micklethwait, Peggy Noonan, Maureen Dowd, Robert Zimmerman and Steven Rattner.
