Granger Smith’s wife reading self-help book to cope with son’s death

Granger Smith’s wife Amber is finding hope after her 3-year-old son River died with help from another mom who also lost her young child.

In a new Instagram post, Amber Smith shared that has been reading Sherri Burgess’ “Bronner: A Journey to Understand” to find insight into her tragic loss.

Sharing an excerpt from Burgess’ book, in which the author explains how she found purpose after losing her son, Amber opened up about how the book has proved to be “magic” for her.

“‘Suffering produces in us endurance and character and hope. It steadies us in our faith and deepens its roots in order that we may be able to weather any storm. It makes us reach forward to greater things than we can see right now, but that we know for sure not only exist, but will be ours at the last.’ Excerpt from the book Bronner by @momgirl777. This book is magic,” Amber wrote.

A rep for the Smith family confirmed in early June that River died by drowning. Granger and Amber donated his organs, which helped save the lives of two people.

“His body is perfect, his organs are perfect, we had to do something,” she wrote in a previous Instagram post. “There are so many people waiting for an organ to save their lives.”

They are also the parents of 7-year-old daughter London and 5-year-old son Lincoln Monarch.
