Coroner confirms Cameron Boyce died of epilepsy

Weeks after news broke that Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce died after suffering a seizure, officials determined his passing was caused by a “sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.”

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner announced in a statement on Tuesday that, “The manner of death was certified as natural.”

He was 20 years old.

According to the coroner’s office’s statement, Boyce received an autopsy two days after he passed away in which the cause and manner of his death were deferred. Additional testing took place to determine the cause of death.

Boyce was found unresponsive in his North Hollywood home when authorities were called to the scene earlier this month.

“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson for Boyce’s family told ABC News at the time. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”

Following his death, family and friends paid tribute to Boyce, who also starred in the “Grown Ups” films starring Adam Sandler and other Disney shows, including “Liv and Maddie”  and “Good Luck Charlie.”

His “Jessie” co-stars, Sandler and “Descendants” Director Kenny Ortega honored the late star, and his father announced a charity in Boyce’s memory as well.
