Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld reminisce about their early comedy days

Eddie Murphy said Jerry Seinfeld was the “most polished” stand-up among their comic cohorts when they began their careers.

Joy Reid moderated a Q&A with the funny duo at a screening of Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” at LA’s Paley Center.

“Eddie said Jerry was always the funniest and the most polished coming up. He said, ‘Jerry figured out how to be a successful comedian before anyone else had — and he was the first comedian to have a nice car . . . a Saab.’”

Our spy said Murphy recalled that “he and the other comedians were on the side with jokes, saying, ‘Jerry bought his first car!’”

Murphy’s reportedly in talks with Netflix for a series of specials worth $70 million.

“Jerry spoke about Eddie’s explosive rise to fame, saying that kind of thing happens only once in 50 to 100 years, it’s very rare,” our source said.

“Eddie mentioned he wasn’t as confident as people thought he was during his rise . . . and [he] spoke about his excitement going back into stand-up . . . because that is who he is.”

In the crowd were Fortune Feimster, Bill Maher, Yvette Nicole Brown, JB Smoove, Jeff Gordon, Sebastian Maniscalco, Neal Brennan, Colleen Ballinger and Ted Sarandos.
