Tom Ford is launching skin care

First Kylie Jenner came for your skin care, now Tom Ford is after a coveted spot in your beauty regime as well.

The designer’s cosmetics brand Tom Ford Beauty announced on Wednesday that it’s launching a new branch of its business — Tom Ford Research.

For the last three years, Ford has been working with a team of scientists to help him produce his first two skin care products, telling WWD, “I wanted to start a serious skin-care arm and have it be science-based. This is a real skin-care product and regimen. I’m not a designer who has thrown his name on a beautifully packaged cream.”

The new line will kick off with a $350 serum concentrate and a $450 crème concentrate. It took over 75 different formulations to create the final version of both items which will debut exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue and Tom Ford stories in August followed by a global rollout in September. The designer also has plans to release three more products, including eye cream, in March.

The serum and cream’s main ingredient is caffeine, sourced from white porcelain cacao and gyokuro, a Japanese green tea. “Caffeine became one of the most important things we researched,” Ford told the publication. “Years ago, a dermatologist told me that the best thing for puffy eyes was moist tea bags. Every time I did it, I noticed that it also moisturized my skin.”
