Donald Trump says White House to intervene in A$AP Rocky arrest

He wants it rapped up quickly.

President Trump said Friday the State Department will intervene on behalf of A$AP Rocky — who has spent the last two weeks in a Swedish jail — at the behest of first lady Melania Trump.

Trump then tweeted that he spoke to hip-hop superstar Kayne West about the arrest and vowed to call Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

“Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration,” Trump wrote. ” I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky.”

At an earlier, unrelated White House event, Trump told reporters, “Sweden is a great country. They are friends of mine, the leadership — and we are going to be calling, we’ll be talking to them. We’ve already started.”

The White House had stayed out of the growing international controversy — despite pleas for an intervention from New York lawmakers and a star-studded list of celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kayne West — until the first lady spoke up.

“I have been called by so many people asking me to help A$AP Rocky,” Trump said, before turning to his wife and adding, “Actually, the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady, right? She was telling me about — ‘Can you help A$AP Rocky?'”

He then turned to the first lady and asked her: “Do you want to give a little statement on that?”

“We’ve been working with [the] State Department,” Melania Trump told the room. “We hope to get him home soon.”

However, a spokesperson for the Swedish prosecutor’s office told Page Six that it is “not possible for the US President to have any influence on the Swedish legal procedure.”

A Swedish judge ruled earlier Friday that prosecutors can keep A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage in jail until July 25 as they complete their probe into the June 30 street fight.
