Tyga cancels concert in Sweden over A$AP Rocky arrest

In a show of support, Tyga has canceled a concert in Sweden after fellow rapper A$AP Rocky was detained in the country over a street fight.

“I have decided to cancel my show in Sweden this Sunday July 14. I will not be performing. #FREEASAPROCKY,” the “Rack City” rapper tweeted on Thursday.

Tyga, 29, and Rocky, 30, previously worked together on the Mustard track “On God.”

Some criticized Tyga in the comments section of the Twitter thread, saying, “Nice move punishing your fans to stand up for your criminal friend.” Others applauded the rapper for taking a stand.

Tyga is not the only celebrity to speak out in support of Rocky. Several stars, including Shawn Mendes, Cara Delevigne and Nicki Minaj advocated for the rapper’s release by sharing the Change.org petition titled, “#JusticeForRocky Demand that Rocky be released from Swedish Officials.”

A$AP Ferg, who is part of A$AP Mob with Rocky, told MTV, “We are trying our best to get him out of this situation and I believe he’s going to pull through.”

On July 3, Rocky and three members of his team, including a security guard, were detained in Stockholm after the group got into a physical altercation with two locals.

Prior to the arrest, the “F—kin’ Problems” rapper had shared a video of two men following Rocky and his peers after an exchange over headphones.

On Friday, the Swedish Prosecution Authority confirmed to Page Six via a press release that the men who followed Rocky were under investigation for “molestation and assault.” Rocky is also being investigated for assault.

The Prosecutor’s Office has until July 19 to decide how to prosecute him. Meanwhile, he is being held at the Kronoberg detention center in Stockholm.

Rocky has also had to cancel shows due to his arrest. The Sónar Festival shared on Instagram Thursday that Rocky’s management team said the rapper is being detained “for an unknown period of time,” adding, “Due to this unfortunate situation he is forced to cancel his European festival and tour dates in July.”
