Cuba Gooding Jr. to turn himself in to police over groping claims

Cuba Gooding Jr. will be arrested by sex-crimes detectives on Thursday for his alleged drunken groping of a woman at a rooftop bar in Midtown, according to his lawyer and law-enforcement sources.

The hard-partying actor and his attorneys will meet with cops at Manhattan’s Special Victims Division in Harlem around noon, one of those attorneys, Mark J. Heller, confirmed.

The “Jerry Maguire” Oscar winner will be formally arrested, fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken, sources said.

“He will be arrested for forcible touching, but the charges will be determined by the ADA,” added one law-enforcement source.

Once the “Jerry Maguire” Oscar winner is fingerprinted and has his mugshot taken, he will be moved to Manhattan criminal court for his arraignment, sources said.

In his first public comments since the alleged incident, Gooding Jr. insisted he is “absolutely not” guilty.

“I trust the system,” the 51-year-old told TMZ in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. “There’s a tape that shows what really happened — that’s the most important thing.”

When pushed about “what really happened,” he responded:

“I was at the club, I left. I met a bunch of people, I said hello, I took pictures and … you know, you have to have faith in what people are saying … now I’m giving the process the chance to show what happened, what went down.”

Gooding was accused of groping the 30-year-old woman around 9 p.m. Sunday while he was “highly intoxicated” inside Midtown’s Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on Seventh Avenue, the woman claimed. She called 911 around 1 a.m. Monday.

Gooding also announced Tuesday he plans to turn himself in to police on Thursday.
