Kenan Thompson gets his own show but isn’t leaving ‘SNL’

Kenan Thompson is finally heading to prime time, but don’t expect him to leave “SNL” anytime soon.

The show’s longest-reigning cast member will star in “The Kenan Show,” produced by “SNL” boss Lorne Michaels.

He’ll play a widowed dad, with Andy Garcia as his father-in-law.

Insiders told the Hollywood Reporter that Thompson — who’s closing out his 16th season on “SNL” — is expected to return to the NBC sketch show next year, although it’s unclear in what capacity.

Meanwhile, his “SNL” castmate Aidy Bryant will film Season 2 of her Hulu show “Shrill” during summer hiatus.
