Donald Glover teases new Adidas collection with ad starring Mo’Nique

Donald Glover is gearing up for the launch of his Adidas collaboration with a little help from Mo’Nique.

The rapper, 35, is “reimagining” three sneaker designs for the sportswear label as a part of his “Donald Glover Presents” line: the Nizza ($80), Continental 80 ($100) and Lacombe ($90).

The “Summertime Magic” singer first stoked hype for the release by offering fans at Coachella the first chance to buy the shoe designs, and now he’s getting people excited all over again with the release of a series of short clips starring himself and legendary comedian Mo’Nique.

In the ads — directed by Glover’s longtime collaborator, Ibra Ake — the “Precious” star, 51, ruthlessly mocks the Grammy winner’s appearance and lifestyle as he chops wood, gathers honey, caters her party and paints a still life.

“Rich is a concept,” Glover stated in the press release for the shoes. “With this project, I wanted to encourage people to think about how their stories can be told on their feet. Value isn’t quantified by what you wear, rather the experiences from them. And you make the decision on what works for you, you live through your own lens. The partnership for me is about being able to exemplify what doing your own thing truly looks and feels like.”

The designs will officially become available beginning April 26.
