‘Jersey Shore’ star Deena Cortese mom-shamed over son’s outfit

New mom Deena Cortese took critics to task on Monday amid backlash she had received over the outfit newborn son Christopher John wore home from the hospital.

Posting a photo of the ensemble on Instagram, the “Jersey Shore” star shared, “Going home 💙 ( it’s not a jacket .. it’s a onesie and hospital approved it ) we’re not perfect but we got this 👌🏼 thank you for the concerns 😘.”

Cortese, 31, who welcomed her first child with husband Chris Buckner on Saturday, received a number of comments over the outfit, with some noting how the car seat may not properly protect the child due to the thickness of a jacket.

“Coat looks too thick for a car seat,” one user noted.

“Hospital personnel are NOT car seat technicians. That ‘onesie’ is definitely NOT safe in a car seat,” wrote another.

As KidsAndCars.org reported, “Bulky sweaters, coats or fleece garments prevent a snug fit of the car seat harness. Although the harness may appear to be snug over a coat, when the coat is compressed by the force of a crash, the harness will not protect your child the way it should.”

Despite the criticism, Cortese has a large number of supporters in her corner.

“Here we go with the mom shaming! People need to shut up and just enjoy the beautiful photos. Congrats deena,” wrote one fan.

“Quite sad someone can’t share a picture of their new baby and share their excitement without people attempting to shame them about the way they do things,” stated another.

“@deenanicolemtv please … Do not ever, think you need to explain yourself as a mother,” shared one user. “You are great, he is healthy, and you got this, jacket or not..”
