Nicki Minaj defends sex offender boyfriend: ‘Y’all can’t run my life’

The “Chun-Li” rapper received a wave of criticism after posting a photo of her and her boyfriend, Kenny Petty, on Instagram because he pled guilty in 1995 to the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. Given his registered sex offender status, fans weren’t thrilled with Minaj’s choice, but the rapper has come forward to defend him.

“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship,” she wrote in the comments (via The Blast), adding, “But go awf, internet, y’all can’t run my life. y’all can’t even run y’all own life.”

Minaj, 36, also posted another photo of her and Petty and captioned it, “Oh they wanna talk? Let’s give’m smthn to talk about. 😜👅 *Shania voice*.”

Perhaps another faux pas, Minaj wasn’t quoting Shania Twain — the lyrics belong to Bonnie Raitt.

Minaj’s brother Jelani Maraj is a convicted child rapist. She also worked with rapper Tekashi69, who previously pleaded guilty in a sexual misconduct case that involved him posting a video online of a 13-year-old girl involved in a sex act.

One commenter pointed out the link between Minaj and the three men, writing, “So Nicki Minaj continues to promote her ‘relationship’ with the convicted CHILD RAPIST Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty👀 …. when is she ever gonna learn?! She loves and supports 3 pedophiles now!! She’s a lost cause!”
