Ariana Grande previewed ‘Thank U, Next’ for exes Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez

Ariana Grande‘s “Thank U, Next” didn’t come as a surprise to her ex-boyfriends because she let them hear it first.

“Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say ‘thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel,” Grande sings in the self-love anthem.

Upon listening to Grande’s surprise single, a fan tweeted that exes Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez must have been surprised when they heard their names dropped. Grande, however, came back with a surprise response.

“they heard it before it came out 🖤 :),” she tweeted.

Alvarez took to his Instagram story to react to the song, jokingly posting a video of himself listening to it and looking stunned to hear his name. Grande reposted his video and wrote, “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH IM SORRY YOU GOT THE WORST LINE @rickyrozay it was meant v lovingly.”

It’s unclear whether ex-fiancé Pete Davidson also got a preview.

Grande and Big Sean, 30, split in April 2015 after eight months of dating. The “Breathin’” singer was linked to backup dancer Alvarez, 26, in July 2015. The two broke up a year later.
