Ronald Perelman’s art collection undamaged in East Hampton house fire

Most of Ronald Perelman’s multimillion-dollar art collection was undamaged in the fire that destroyed the Creeks — his estate in East Hampton — sources say.

The Friday night blaze started in the attic and was contained to the third floor of the house, so paintings and sculptures on the lower floors were salvaged with minor smoke and water damage.

“The firefighters definitely brought the artwork out of the building, and that artwork didn’t look damaged,” one witness told me.

Perelman, one of the world’s top collectors, owns paintings by Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha and Roy Lichtenstein, and sculptures by Jeff Koons and Alberto Giacometti.

A huge steel Richard Serra piece outside would have survived the WWII bombing of Dresden in Germany.

A spokesman for Perelman said, “The assessment is ongoing.”
