New York’s notorious party crasher busted for using fake $15K check

An infamous party crasher who has used a series of frauds to infiltrate New York society is at again.

Priyantha De Silva, 60, was hauled into Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday in cuffs for using a forged check to buy a $15,000 VIP package for two to attend events at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Investigators tracked down the high society-loving con man to a Brooklyn homeless shelter. He was caught on surveillance video at the Tribeca Film Institute April 19, court papers state. A few days later, he was photographed partying at celebrity nightspot 1OAK, the papers say.

De Silva, wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and stylish black-rimmed glasses, pleaded not guilty to grand larceny and other raps.

Prosecutor Andrew Joyce asked for $7,500 bail, which Justice Melissa Jackson granted, because De Silva has no permanent address.

Defense lawyer Glenn Hardy said that bail wasn’t necessary because De Silva is on parole for convictions, which involve similar schemes to get into red carpet soiree.

He was sentenced in 2012 to 1 1/2 to three years in prison for sneaking into the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center’s charity event and bidding on a $1,500 Prada bag during a silent auction with a fake Bank of America credit card.

The prison stint did little to dampen De Silva’s enthusiasm for star-studded galas. He was spotted last October at New York City Wine & Food Festivals Burger Bash on Pier 92 and at the New York Film Festival premiere party at Tavern on the Green.

A month earlier, he crashed a bash for Polaroid’s 80th anniversary, where he claimed he was an Oscar-winning producer. He told another partygoer that he works with Lady Gaga.

“He wants to be at the party,” said Hardy. “Who doesn’t?”
