Retired teacher thought Keith Urban was broke, bought him snacks

A retired New Jersey teacher thought she was helping a down-and-out man pay for his food — and ended up footing the bill for Keith Urban.

Ruth Reed said that for three years, she’s kept a resolution to help Wawa customers pay for their groceries once a week, and jumped at the chance when the man ahead of her in line in Medford, NJ, on Friday was short a few bucks.

“I didn’t know it was Keith Urban. I didn’t think he had enough money to pay for his things so I said I would pay for it,” Reed, 50, told local news outlet CBS3.

The country music star thanked Reed and introduced himself as Keith — and she told him he looked like Keith Urban.

That’s when he revealed he was.

“When he told me who he was, I didn’t believe him!” Reed said, adding she was so dubious she even asked where his wife, Nicole Kidman, was.

Eventually she asked his bodyguard to confirm he was the singer.

“It was then I realized what an idiot I was,” she said.

Reed, who now works as a substitute teacher, snapped a picture with the crooner that was posted on a Medford Facebook group.

Urban had been in the Garden State as part of his Graffiti U tour and performed at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden later that night.
