Suspect arrested in XXXTentacion shooting

A man has been arrested in the slaying of rapper XXXTentacion, police said Thursday.

Broward County sheriff’s deputies in Pompano Beach collared Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, on Wednesday evening on first-degree murder charges without premeditation.

Williams was on probation for grand theft auto at the time of his arrest and was also booked for violating probation and driving without a valid license.

He is being held without bail and will make his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon.

The 20-year-old rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was gunned down in broad daylight in Deerfield, Fla., on Monday.

News of Williams’ arrest first surfaced on social media late Wednesday night, with the emergence of video of Onfroy’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard Onfroy, saying a detective on the case texted her about a break in the case.

“I’m at X moms house & they just arrested the shooter,” said the caption of the Snapchat video, which was reposted to other platforms.
