Shay Mitchell is worried about what you’re posting online

Judging by her Hollywood resumé, Shay Mitchell knows the risks of digital oversharing better than anyone.

Mitchell’s seven-year stint playing an endlessly cyberbullied student on “Pretty Little Liars” made her a household name — and this September, the 31-year-old will star in the Lifetime series “You,” about a dangerous digital stalker.

Mitchell, who has nearly 20 million Instagram followers, told Page Six that while she’s “always been really conscious” of her social media footprint and that playing characters whose lives are endangered by the internet has made her even more careful about what she posts.

“I think that people really need to think about what they’re putting online,” she said.

The Canadian actress is equally outspoken about women’s reproductive rights, as evident by her new partnership with Allergan for the pharmaceutical company’s “Know Your Birth Control” campaign. Particularly in today’s political climate, Mitchell said, it’s crucial for women to “feel equipped with the right information to make informed decisions.”

“My parents made my home a safe space and starting place for conversations about effective pregnancy prevention, and brought me to my healthcare provider when the time was right,” Mitchell explained. “I feel strongly that that’s the way it should be. We should all be educated about our options and feel informed.”
