Nicole Kidman opens up about miscarriages during marriage to Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman is reflecting on motherhood.

The “Big Little Lies” star looked back on her marriage to Tom Cruise and the struggles they shared conceiving in Tatler’s July issue. Kidman suffered an ectopic pregnancy, which is a condition in which the embryo begins developing in the fallopian tube instead of the womb, and suffered a miscarriage at 23.

“There’s a huge, aching yearning. I know the yearning,” Kidman recalled. “And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough. That’s massive grief to women.”

The former couple, who married in 1990, went on to adopt daughter Bella, now 25, and son Connor, now 22. Cruise and Kidman also tried to conceive again but suffered another miscarriage around the time they filed for divorce in 2001.

Kidman went on to marry Keith Urban, while Cruise moved on with Katie Holmes, though the latter couple has since divorced.

The Australian actress, 50, gave birth to daughter Sunday in 2008. In 2010, she and Urban welcomed a second daughter, Faith, via surrogacy.
