After rumors that he’d run for Congress, newly retired Jets star Nick Mangold told Page Six that he’s currently focusing on being a dad.
The former Jets center — who has three kids, Matthew, Thomas and Eloise, with wife Jennifer — told Page Six at BTIG Charity Day, “I spend a lot of time ‘dadding.’ I also make breakfast for my kids, so omelets are big in my house before they leave for school. I am happy to be retired . . . I watch a little bit of football, but as far as coaching from the couch, I do not do that.”
Mangold announced his retirement in April after an 11-year career.
He last played in 2016, and was released after the season.
He has been active in the Republican party for a while, and had considered running for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.
But Mangold tweeted in February, “I am not running for Congress . . . However, I do appreciate the support that was given in my short period of possibly thinking about running for Congress.”
Mangold, Eli Manning, Jenny McCarthy, Petra Nemcova , Shaquille O’Neal and CC Sabathia were among the celebrity guests at BTIG’s annual drive, where stars act as guest traders at the global financial-services firm, taking calls from clients, and all the profits from the trades are donated to charity.
