Gloria Allred brings up Bill Cosby’s guilty verdict at Daytime Emmys

Gloria Allred, attorney for some of Bill Cosby’s accusers, injected some politics in the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony Sunday night. Allred, a presenter of the Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program category, held up a sign on stage and shouted its contents, “Bill Cosby, Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!” before announcing the winner.

Allred’s brief stunt was met with mix reaction, eliciting some applause as well boos. Its timing felt awkward as it followed ceremony host Mario Lopez’s comments that the show would not be about politics.

Allred, who held the same Cosby sign on the red carpet at the Daytime Emmys, represents three of the five additional accusers who testified that Cosby drugged and molested them at the recent retrial of the disgraced comedian. It ended on Thursday with Cosby found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand.

After the conviction, Allred, who represents about half of Cosby’s  60+ accusers, made a statement, saying that “justice has been done” and that “finally we can say women are believed in court.”
