Elizabeth Vargas makes her next move after exiting ‘20/20’

Elizabeth Vargas — who is departing ABC’s “20/20” next month after anchoring the show for 14 years — is moving to the A&E Network to produce a series of investigative documentaries, Page Six has learned.

We’re told that the veteran broadcaster’s first project is an in-depth discussion with the parents of accused child-killer Casey Anthony in the home where their granddaughter, Caylee, disappeared.

The network told us the film reveals “the intimate and heart-breaking details of their lives a decade after everything went wrong. Along the way George and Cindy [Anthony] revisit locations that have come to define their lives, from the woods where Caylee’s remains were found, to the hotel where George almost ended it all.” Casey was found not guilty of the murder in 2011, but was found guilty of misdemeanor counts of providing false information to cops.

Vargas announced in December that she would be leaving “20/20” in May. She’ll be replaced by “Good Morning America’s” Amy Robach.
