Kesha ‘nervous’ to perform song inspired by Dr. Luke battle at Grammys

A day before the Grammys, Kesha shared how much taking the stage this year is particularly meaningful.

“when i wrote praying, with ben abraham and ryan lewis, i just felt as if i had gotten a huge weight off of my shoulders,” she wrote under a snap of this year’s Grammy venue, Madison Square Garden. “it felt like an emotional raw victory for myself, one step closer to healing.  I never could have known what would’ve happened these past few years.”

“Praying,” the pop ballad Kesha will be performing on Sunday, is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and was inspired by her ongoing battle with producer Dr. Luke, whom she accused of drugging and raping her, and controlling her career.

“i needed this song in a very real way,” she continued. “im so proud and nervous and overwhelmed to be performing it at the grammys on sunday, and if you need it i hope this song finds you.”

Kesha’s album “Rainbow” is also nominated for Best Pop Vocal album.
