Mira Sorvino working again after alleged Weinstein blacklist

After claiming to have been blacklisted by Harvey Weinstein, Mira Sorvino is finally getting back to work.

“I’ve been getting offers and have already done this really great, fun recurring role on ‘Modern Family,’ which is just a delight, and am going into some projects that will be announced in the next few days,” Sorvino, 50, said (via People) at the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday.

Sorvino also acknowledged directors Terry Zwigoff and Peter Jackson, who corroborated her accusation that Weinstein, 65, demanded directors not work with her after she rejected his sexual advances.

“It’s very noble of them, and I appreciate that,” Sorvino said. “I have to say, the general atmosphere since those allegations came out, those revelations, there seems to be a lot of goodwill toward me in the entertainment business.”

However, a rep for Weinstein tells us that “Mr. Weinstein never spoke to Terry regarding casting and has confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mira Sorvino was always considered for other films as well.”

“As recently as last year, Mira Sorvino called Mr. Weinstein and asked if her husband could be part of the SEAL television series [Six] he was producing and Mr. Weinstein cast him; when Christopher Backus received a better offer, Mr. Weinstein allowed him to amicably break his contract to pursue the opportunity.”

The Oscar winner, who apologized Thursday in an open letter to Dylan Farrow for working with Woody Allen, also commended the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements for encouraging women to speak out against sexual harassment and misconduct.

“I’m very excited that this movement of #MeToo and Time’s Up is taking place, not only for myself but for my daughters, because I cannot stand the idea they would have to suffer what I and just about every woman I’ve met has suffered at some point in her life,” she said. “I think it all requires brave consideration and thought.”

“It’s a really wonderful awakening time for all of us as moral human beings to say that no one should ever have to be abused in their workplace, in their home, harassed, and obviously sexual politics have no place in power dynamics. Our lives have to become more equitable in every way,” she continued. “I think it’s wonderful to work for parity and equal pay, but we cannot leave out the voices of all the victims of abuse and harassment behind as we move forward. We have to rise together.”
