Rose McGowan back on Twitter

Rose McGowan was suspended from Twitter for posting a phone number — not for speaking out against Harvey Weinstein and Ben Affleck, the social media service said Thursday.

“We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan’s team. We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates our Terms of Service,” Twitter tweeted, adding that the offending tweet was deleted and the account was now back online.

McGowan’s account was suspended Wednesday amid a tweetstorm against the “Gigli” actor, who she said was well aware of Weinstein’s pervy predilections.

“THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK,” McGowan wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the 12-hour suspension notice.

Twitter apologized for not being clearer about exactly why McGowan was suspended, and insisted it supports the “Charmed” actress and others in using its platform to expose sexual assault.

“Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices on our platform, especially those that speak truth to power. We stand with the brave women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices,” Twitter tweeted.
