James Earl Jones to lend voice to East Hampton play reading

James Earl Jones, who voiced Darth Vader in “Star Wars” will lend his famous baritone to an East Hampton Guild Hall reading Saturday of the play “Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?” by Eric Bentley.

The show debuted on Broadway in 1979, and the Hamptons reading will also star Matthew Broderick, Richard Kind, Peter Riegert, Mercedes Ruehl and Harris Yulin, who will also direct.

The drama centers on real witnesses who testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee of the 1950s, including director Elia Kazan, choreographer Jerome Robbins and actor José Ferrer.

Bentley will be 101 next week and was thrown a tribute concert at the Town Hall in Midtown in 2015 that was emceed by The Post’s Michael Riedel.
