Tom Cruise broke his ankle in on-set stunt injury

After footage of Tom Cruise’s painful-looking stunt accident on the set of “Mission: Impossible 6” came out over the weekend, production has halted on the blockbuster as the movie star recovers from a broken ankle.

On Sunday, the 55-year-old action star leaped through the air from a building while filming and slammed into a brick wall before scrambling onto another rooftop.

“During production on the latest ‘Mission: Impossible’ film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt,” a Paramount rep told Page Six on Wednesday. “Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery.”

Cruise attempted to continue filming the scene, but was clearly injured as he limped across the rooftop.

Paramount’s statement added that, “Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.”

The rep said that despite the mishap, the film remains on schedule to open on July 27, 2018.

Hollywood blog Deadline reported Cruise would be sidelined for nine weeks.
