Josh Gad surprises NYC theaters ahead of ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Josh Gad gave moviegoers a treat Thursday night during a showing of “Beauty and the Beast” in New York.
Surprising an audience inside AMC Loews 34th Street, Gad, 36, who plays sidekick LeFou to the villainous Gaston (Luke Evans) in the film, greeted the crowd — and swiped some popcorn — before the lights dimmed.
After engaging in a sing-along with fans, Gad, best known as the voice of Olaf in Disney’s “Frozen,” treated a lucky attendee to a birthday hug. He also thanked the crowd for being among the first to watch the new tale as old as time.
“On behalf of the cast and crew of ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ thank you guys so much for your incredible support. I hope you enjoy it,” he said.

Gad later popped by the Regal E-Walk theater on 42nd Street.

“Beauty and the Beast” opens nationwide Friday.
