How Gwyneth Paltrow prioritized Tracy Anderson’s role as a mother

Gwyneth Paltrow is willing do to anything to keep fit — even provide childcare.

“The first thing [Paltrow] said to me was, ‘I realize you have a son and you don’t live where I live. I promise you that I will make sure that he’s fine and taken care of and make sure you can still be a mom,” fitness guru Tracy Anderson recounted to Vanity Fair at a party celebrating her new flagship studio in Midtown Manhattan.

The actress, 44, was referred to the celebrity trainer by “a girl that was in her life, and she kept seeing her changing and changing and changing,” and it was after their first session — the “hardest thing” Paltrow had ever done — that the actress realized she needed Anderson to be readily accessible.

“‘I have to start filming a movie in a short amount of time … I need to get the baby weight off. Will you please come do this?’” Anderson recalled Paltrow asking her.  The two have now been training together for over a decade.

Founder of The Anderson Method, the 42-year-old has trained the likes of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez but says Paltrow’s gesture was a breath of fresh air.

“I already had met with celebs that were 100 percent not aware like that,” Anderson said. “[Paltrow] was gracious and lovely and genuine and transparent and vulnerable and respectful.”
