Deborah Roberts on Trump: ‘Take some deep breaths’

ABC News’ Deborah Roberts says this isn’t a time for the media to “shut up” — as suggested by Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon — but it is a time to focus.

“I think we all need to take some deep breaths. There is obviously a new change of pace. People knew that this was coming, they heard [Trump’s] campaign, and it is not that different from when he was campaigning. I feel like every day there is so much noise in the background. But we need to focus on what policies are coming up. The bullying is not doing anybody any service,” she told Page Six at the Fashion Group’s 20th Annual Rising Star Awards on Thursday.

And when it comes to the first lady and first daughter, “Melania and Ivanka are very fashionable women. I think that when they find their voices, as well as find their stride, they will have things to talk about. It can be very interesting. I understand that people are alarmed, and there is a lot of rhetoric out there, but at the same time we have had huge changes in our country before and we have survived. Let just see what he is going to do. That is all we can do.”
