Philanthropists Fred and Nancy Poses got record-setting bidding going at the Child Mind Institute’s Child Advocacy Award Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street Monday after being honored.
In front of a crowd of 700, including Kyle MacLachlan, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jane Rosenthal, Brooke Garber Neidich, Christine Mack, Dr. Ruth Westheimer and the org’s Dr. Harold Koplewicz — the couple spoke of their own efforts years ago to help their son when he faced learning challenges.
When the evening’s auction kicked off, the couple began the bidding by giving $100,000 — then pledged to match the next $500,000 in donations.
The night, hosted by Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, raised $7 million.
