Elizabeth Vargas knows the value of a home you feel comfortable in.

“The minute I walked in here 10 years ago and saw the views, I knew I had to have it,” the “20/20” co-anchor told Closer Weekly about how she chose her Manhattan apartment.

The newswoman’s well-lit, pre-war home is located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and has provided her with the peace of mind needed to get through some tough times, like a divorce from husband-of-12-years Marc Cohn and struggles with alcohol addiction.

“It’s so quiet here, you almost feel as if you’re in the suburbs,” she told the magazine, on newsstands now. “I wake up every morning and see the Hudson River. It’s so peaceful.”

The 3,000-square-foot home – which features five bedrooms and five bathrooms – hasn’t just been a place of refuge, though, it’s also been a great place to raise her and Cohn’s two boys, 13-year-old Zachary Raphael and 10-year-old Samuel Wyatt.

“I love to read in the living room with my two boys,” she said. “In fact, we read here every night.”
