Filming at Physical Graffiti building angers residents

A new Amazon TV pilot is angering some tenants of the iconic East Village building featured on Led Zeppelin’s “Physical Graffiti” album cover.

On Tuesday, signs went up at 96 St. Marks Place, part of the Physical Graffiti building, notifying residents that Amy Sherman-Palladino’s new drama “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” would be filming at the exterior of their home from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5.

The notice read, “Only when filming, a production assistant from ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ will be inside the entrance of 94 and 96 St. Marks Place to ask residents to stand by so they do not walk into the shot. This will only be for a minute at a time.”

By Thursday, annoyed tenants had written crude remarks on the poster.

“F–k off,” one person wrote, while another added to the bottom, “You better hope I have nowhere to be during this, or your f–king ‘scene’ is ruined!”

One resident also wondered, “Is mgmt getting $$ for this? Do [tenants] see a share?”

The location manager on the project told Page Six this was the first he was hearing of any complaints, but when we tried to contact the number given out to residents by the production, it led to a disconnected phone.

However, other residents said they weren’t upset, but rather excited to get a brush with showbiz. One renter told us, “I literally don’t care. If anything, it’s cool that my building is the backdrop of a movie scene, right?”

The marked-up sign was removed on Friday.

Meanwhile, 94 St. Marks Place, where the underground venue, Under Saint Marks is located, will be portrayed as a 1950s comedy club called The Gaslight Café for the show.

The show stars Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub.
