Chris Brown can’t perform in Japan because of latest legal woes

Chris Brown’s latest run-in with the law means he won’t be able to perform in Japan next week.

The “Ayo” singer, 27, is still be investigated by LAPD for allegedly pointing a gun on a woman at his gated Los Angeles estate last month, and because of that Japanese officials denied Brown’s request for a work visa, reports TMZ.

The pop star was expected to perform twice in Tokyo next week, according to his website, but Japan reportedly isn’t keen on admitting visitors with either criminal backgrounds or open cases, both of which Brown has.

Brown was arrested late last month, following an hours-long stand off with police, after former beauty queen Baylee Curran claimed that he’d pointed a gun at her during the early hours of Aug. 30. The singer’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has been adamant that his client is completely innocent of the accusations.

“There were no gun or guns found in the home,” he said during a press conference in early September. “This was a set-up.”

While Brown has not spoken publicly about the incident, he did start selling shirts that read “THIS B!TCH LYIN,’” and feature a cartoon of a crying woman — a hard-to-miss dig at Curran — earlier this week on the website of his clothing line, Black Pyramid.

This isn’t the first time Brown has run into visa issues. Last December, he was forced to cancel an Australian tour, after authorities told him he was unlikely to be issued one because of his criminal conviction for assaulting pop star Rihanna.
