Son of ‘RHOC’ star arrested for attempted murder

The son of former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers in Costa Mesa, Calif., responded to a report of a shooting at about 2 a.m., with witnesses identifying reality spawn Joshua Waring, 27, as the alleged shooter. The unnamed 35-year-old victim, who was shot in the lower torso, was taken to a hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.

Buzzfeed reports that as police approached Waring, he fled in a stolen SUV until he collided with another vehicle. Waring then allegedly fled briefly on foot until police apprehended him.

Waring was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, hit and run, assault, battery and felony evading.

The incident is far from Waring’s first run-in with the law.

In June 2008, Peterson revealed she left “RHOC” to deal with Waring’s issues after he was arrested for heroin and ecstasy possession. “Josh was arrested just hours after I finished my first day of filming,” Peterson told the Orange County Register. “I was traumatized by Josh’s arrest … I was crying continually, and I wasn’t helping my son. For me, I needed to really pull back, concentrate on my emotional wellbeing and deal with the aftermath of the arrest.”

He was also arrested in April 2010 for battery and twice in 2014 on various drug charges. In August 2014, Radar Online reports that Waring was busted after shoplifting at K-Mart and fleeing from police — and allegedly leaving a syringe and a used meth pipe behind in his escape attempt. Waring pleaded not guilty and had his charges reduced, resulting in a 120-day jail sentence. In September 2014, Waring got a 32-day sentence for another drug-related incident.

Then in January 2015, Waring pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, receiving a 60-day prison sentence.

As a result of Waring’s issues, Peterson is raising his daughter. She revealed to Bravo’s “Daily Dish” in September 2015, “As most of the viewers know, I have a son and he’s had just a lot of challenges … he and his wife had a baby almost three years ago. He’s really struggling and, well, they’re both really struggling. And so [my husband] George and I elected to help out and we actually adopted Kennedy, and so we’re raising her.”

Bravo declined to comment. The Costa Mesa Police Department did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
