A tipsy tourist toting an alligator Birkin bag mistook designer June Ambrose for Kerry Washington at the Polo Bar on Thursday night.
Top stylist Ambrose radiated in a flowing Christian Siriano gown, and the fellow diner accosted her at her table and proceeded to gush over her acting. Ambrose explained who she was, but “the woman was relentless,” according to a spy.
Meanwhile, the overzealous woman didn’t even notice actress Emmy Rossum having a low-key dinner in the corner.
Earlier that night, Ambrose was honored at the Fresh Air Fund gala. Several of her pals, including Siriano and Joe Zee, were in the audience as Ambrose dedicated her award to her mom, who put her in the program, which provides free trips to the country for low-income inner-city NYC kids, when she was a teen.
“I want to share this award with my mother. She is suffering from Alzheimer’s. And this award, because she’s so fearlessly brave, is really for her because she never put a lid on my box and she wanted me to just fly and dream and never judge,” she said.
