Lester Holt keeps jamming out at holiday parties

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt kept the holiday spirit going on Friday night when he “grabbed a bass” and joined a staff band at a party for the newscast.

The anchor’s surprising jam session came days after he impressively sang “Joy to the World” at another holiday party for NBC’s show “Dateline” that “gave all of us the chills,” a spy told Page Six.

This time, Holt and his wife, Carol, were hosting the “Nightly News” team at an annual bash at 30 Rock, where guests included correspondents like Kate Snow, Harry Smith and Rehema Ellis, as well as Holt’s son Cameron.

“The staff cheered as Lester grabbed his bass and joined a band led by a ‘Nightly News’ teleprompter operator,” said a spy, adding they played “an Afro-Cuban rendition” of the Christmas carol “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

Earlier, Holt and a committee of judges cast their ballots in a “holiday decorating contest,” in which the staffer with the “winning workspace” won an extra day off.

Page Six reported that over at the holiday party for ABC’s “World News Tonight With David Muir,” its executive producer fell after drinking at the party and wound up heading to the hospital.
