Lionel Richie is slamming reports that his daughter Nicole and her husband of nearly five years, Joel Madden, are headed for a split.
“It’s completely untrue,” the pop icon recently told Hello! magazine.
After putting their $3.5 million Bel Air home on the market last month, Nicole, 33, and Madden’s marriage found itself under a microscope. Not to mention a bombshell InTouch Weekly report citing that the mom of two is consulting with divorce attorneys.
“They’ve bought a new house and the moving van was pulling up at their old house to move to the new one,” Lionel explained. “Hence the story they are breaking up.”
While the pair have yet to comment on their recent (and real estate) endeavors, the Richie patriarch is hoping to give his little girl a sigh of relief by clearing the air.
“I said to Nicole, ‘Rumor you don’t worry about. It’s when they print something and it’s true you need to worry.'”
So far, Nicole and Madden’s silence has been deafening.
