The conservative courtship rules no longer apply for Jessa Duggar and her new husband, Ben Seewald.
The “19 Kids and Counting” star posted a picture of herself and Seewald sharing an intimate lip-lock on Wednesday.
She captioned the photo on Instagram: “It’s great living life with your best friend!”
Duggar, 22, and Seewald, 19, tied the knot on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, surrounded by more than 1,000 guests.
The newlyweds, who pledged to refrain from any intimate contact before the wedding, decided to keep their first kiss a private moment, sharing it in a room at the church and not at the altar in front of guests.
“It was their desire they would share this unique and precious time intimately alone, so just respect that,” Pastor Mike Schadt told the crowd (via People). “It is very untraditional not to kiss onstage, but I can tell you they are smooching now. The fact they want to do it alone is very precious.”
Wedding guests included the couple’s combined 24 siblings, their parents, extended family and actor Kirk Cameron.
“So while I normally wouldn’t fly that far for any old friend’s wedding, my daughters will very rarely get the chance to see a wedding where a husband and wife saved their first kiss for the altar,” Cameron said. “I want them to see this, because I don’t know that they ever will again.”
In regards to kids, Duggar has already said she wants a large family.
“We both want to have a big family,” the newlywed said. “We are talking about our goals and the future with family. We have both talked about adoption and want to adopt, too.”
