There is a simple explanation for the ring Maria Shriver has been wearing on her left ring finger — and it isn’t because she is reconciling with husband Arnold Schwarzenegger, reports say.
A source tells People that the sparkler on Shriver’s finger is actually her mother’s engagement ring. Eunice Shriver passed away in 2009, following a series of strokes. Maria Shriver was reported to have been very close with her mother, the fifth child of the legendary Kennedy family.
ARNOLD SPOTTED WEARING WEDDING RING
Shriver and Schwarzenegger separated after 25 years of marriage in May. Soon after, the reason for the unexpected split was revealed — Schwarzenegger revealed that he had a child with a longtime member of the family’s household staff more than 10 years prior. In July, Shriver filed for divorce. Soon after, she bought a $10 million mansion near the couple’s former home.
However, the pair spent Christmas together with their four children, and even headed to a Los Angeles Lakers game as a group. Soon after, reports surfaced that Shriver was reconsidering the divorce, as it went against her religious beliefs. Friends told TMZ that Schwarzenegger was working hard to win her back, and was gaining ground. Around the same time, Shriver and Schwarzenegger were spotted wearing rings on their left hands.
But now a source tells People that a reunion is not in the cards for the pair.
“The reports of a reconciliation are not true,” says the source. The source explained the closeness over the holidays by saying, “Arnold and Maria will always come together when it comes to supporting and loving their children.”
But Schwarzenegger’s ring-wearing is still more of a mystery: The ring, which features a big blue stone, does appear to be the same one he wore before his marriage crumbled.
