Join us this summer for an art trail unlike anything Oxfordshire has seen before…
Introducing OxTrail, where a herd of 138 large and mini oxen will be on display to form a fun and family-friendly trail. Each sculpture is unique and has been painted by artists, schools, community groups, or local media.
OxTrail is raising money for Sobell House Hospice, who provide expert and compassionate care to people at the end of life, and support to their family and friends.
OxTrail is raising vital funds for Sobell House Hospice.
It is estimated that the number of people needing vital end of life care in England will rise by 55% by 2030 and, as a result, the demand for hospice care is expected to grow at a similar rate. Assuming that NHS funding will not increase in line with the demand, in order to be able to provide a service to all that need it within Oxfordshire, we are likely to need to double our annual fundraising by 2030.

One week to go until @oxtrail2024 goes live! We’re trying to stay calm but we’re too ox-cited for this moo-velous adventure to start. Our oxen will be grazing around Oxfordshire starting 6 July. 🤩
What is OxTrail?
OxTrail is an art sculpture trail where each ox sculpture has been individually designed by artists and local schools. You will be able to visit each sculpture and unlock it on the OxTrail app where you can collect over 60 rewards!
Once the trail is over, the life-sized oxen will be herded together for a final time and auctioned off to graze in their forever homes. The funds raised through the auction will help to fund the life-enhancing care that Sobell House Hospice provides.
Make sure to follow @oxtrail2024 to stay updated on all the amazing things happening throughout the trail!
Please take a moment today to read Ryan’s Sobell story, kindly shared with us by his partner, Nicki. 💜
‘Ryan was a kind and caring man. He was a good friend, a great partner and a brilliant Dad to our young son, Riley. Ryan was the type of person who would do anything for anyone, and if someone needed his help they knew that they could always rely on him to be there for them. A postman by trade, Ryan was popular, sociable, and charismatic with a special talent for getting out of trouble by simply saying ‘I love you’.
In July 2022, our whole world changed when Ryan was diagnosed with aggressive bowel cancer. The cancer spread, and was causing him a lot of pain and discomfort. Ryan was becoming increasingly poorly, spending more time in hospital undergoing tests and receiving treatment. He was so well looked after, but visitors and visiting hours were restricted. Ryan found this difficult, especially being away from Riley. Riley also struggled not seeing his Daddy as much as usual. As Ryan’s condition worsened, the decision was made to move him to Sobell House.
For Ryan, and for us as a family, everything changed…’
