OBI’s policy team works with the Legislature and state agencies to support Oregon employers. OBI member committees support the team’s work in a wide rage of areas, including employment practices, workforce development and environmental, tax and fiscal policy. OBI also engages in advocacy on behalf members through its political action committees.
Effective advocacy requires access to accurate information. The OBI Research and Education Foundation sponsors work that explains the effects of adopted public policy and provides a fact-based foundation for the development of new public policy. Recent research examines the economic reach of Oregon’s manufacturing sector and the effects of regional and local tax policy.
Through regular newsletters, webinars and policy team meetings, OBI keeps members informed about legislative and regulatory developments that affect them. OBI’s Research and Education Foundation participates in a wide variety of projects designed to assess economic trends and public policy effects in order to guide business leaders and public officials.
