Not a standard group but a rotating collective, Rich Gang feature artists signed to Birdman's Cash Money label. Launched in 2013, the first lineup of the collective featured Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Drake. They made their debut that same year with the single "Tapout" and the album Rich Gang. The mixtape featured a stacked roster of guests who included Mystikal, Future, R. Kelly, Yo Gotti, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, T.I., and many more. It peaked in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 and at number two on both the R&B/hip-hop and rap charts. Subsequent one-off singles would appear over the years, the most notable being the 2014 single "Lifestyle," which would help launch the careers of Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan. The up-and-coming pair would feature exclusively on the second Rich Gang mixtape, The Tour, Pt. 1. While the Rich Gang concept would be put on hold for a few years while Birdman was embroiled in label disputes with Lil Wayne, he returned with Young Thug in 2017 for the single "Bit Bak," which would appear on Rich Gang II: Lifestyles. ~ Neil Z.
