The French Shooting Federation (FFTir) was created in 1967 as the result of a merger between several peer associations within the Union des Sociétés de Tir de France. An association governed by the Law of 1901 and recognized as being of public interest since 1971, the French Shooting Federation acts on behalf of the Ministry of Sport and is responsible for the promotion and development of 12 sporting disciplines in France.

Presided by Michel Baczyk, it has 255,600 members. Shooting has been on the Olympic Programme since the first Games of the modern era in 1896, and will also be on the Programme for Paris 2024, with 15 Olympic and 13 Paralympic events (pistol, rifle and target).

The Olympic Torch Relay is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the Olympic values such as respect, commitment, team spirit and fraternity, values shared by the French Shooting Federation, promoted by our Shooting Schools and reinforced within our clubs.

Since 2016, the towns of Châteauroux and Déols have been home to the Centre National de Tir Sportif [National Shooting Sport Centre]. This venue will host the Olympic and Paralympic shooting events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The Team Relay will be held at the Place de la République, the beating heart of the city of Castelroussine, and will showcase laser shooting.

Sylvie Lanson, Team Relay Captain, is the very essence of voluntary work and involvement in the sporting movement: treasurer of the federation, secretary of the Fleury league and club, elected member of the Comité Départemental and CROS Centre-Val de Loire. She is a key figure in sport and shooting in our region.

For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
