Founded in 1941, the French Handball Federation (FFHandball) organises and ensures the development of handball and all associated sports: 7-a-side handball, 4-a-side handball, beach handball, Baby-Hand, Handfit and Handensemble.

With 2,400 clubs and more than 530,000 members, the FFHandball has a nationwide presence and is a major player on the international stage thanks to its French teams, two-time defending Olympic champions.

The Olympic Torch Relay is an opportunity for the Federation to highlight all the players who bring handball to life in the region. Passing through the Maison du Handball is also a powerful symbol, as this showcase for French handball reflects the excellence of the sport and its track record.

It is an honour for the FFHandball to be involved in this Torch Relay. An Olympic symbol par excellence, it reflects the values that drive our sport: excellence, respect and team spirit. This is an opportunity to pass on the fervor of this event to everyone involved in handball.

Based in Créteil, the Maison du Handball is intended to be the showcase of French handball, a place where the excellence of the French national teams and the amateur activities of our clubs and members come together. These different publics share the same passion and common values. The Olympic Torch Relay will be an opportunity to seal this union between all the players who bring handball to life in the region. The Team Relay Captain will be Mathieu de Cillia.

For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
