Thirteen shooting athletes obtain Paris 2024 quotas following US Olympic Trials
Thirteen US shooting athletes have secured a quota to Paris 2024 following the conclusion of the US Olympic Trials Shotgun Part 2 and Smallbore Rifle & Pistol Olympic Trials Part 3.
The US Olympic Trials Shotgun Part 2 event was held at the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club in Arizona, 11 to 17 March, while the Smallbore Rifle & Pistol Olympic Trials Part 3 were held at the Army Marksmanship Unit’s Pool Range Complex at Fort Moore in Columbus, Georgia from 17 to 19 March.

Which US athletes have earned quotas in Trap for Paris 2024?
Rachel Tozier - Women’s Trap
Tozier is a staff sergeant in the US Army marksmanship unit from Pattonsburg, Missouri. She earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games. This is the first time Tozier has obtained a quota to compete in an Olympic Games.
Ryann Phillips - Women’s Trap
Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic Games for which this Texas native has obtained a quota. She is the 2024 CAT Games bronze medalist (the continental sport shooting championships), and 2023 junior world champion. Phillips is a student at Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi.
Derrick Mein - Men’s Trap
Mein hails from Paola, Kansas, and previously competed at Tokyo 2020 in trap and trap mixed team. He’s the reigning 2024 CAT Games gold medalist and clinched gold at the 2022 ISSF World Championships Shotgun in Osijek, Croatia, to obtain a quota spot for Team USA at Paris 2024.
Will Hinton - Men’s Trap
Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic Games for which Hinton, a Dacula, Georgia native, has obtained quota spots. Hinton is a staff sergeant in the US Army marksmanship unit. His success at the US Olympic Trials Shotgun Part 2 builds on his success after winning gold at the 2022 CAT Games.
Which US athletes have earned quotas in Skeet for Paris 2024?
Vincent Hancock – Men’s Skeet
Hailing from Eatonton, Georgia, Hancock is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in Skeet, with victories at Tokyo 2020, London 2012 and Beijing 2008. The four-time Olympian also competed at Rio 2016. At Paris 2024, Hancock could become the sixth athlete in history to win the same individual Olympic event four times, which would be a first in shooting. Hancock is the 2023 Pan American Games champion.
Conner Prince - Men’s Skeet
Prince, from Burleson, Texas, is the 2023 World Cup gold medalist in Mixed Team Skeet. This is the first Olympic Games for which he has secured a quota.
Austen Smith - Women’s Skeet
Smith, an Olympian who hails from Keller, Texas, earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Mixed Team Skeet. She will be looking to improve on her 10th-place finish at Tokyo 2020.
Dania Vizzi - Women’s Skeet
Vizzi has had a dominant season. The Odessa, Florida native earned gold in Mixed Team Skeet at the 2023 Pan American Games and secured silver at the 2023 World Championship. She previously earned gold at the 2022 CAT Games. Paris 2024 would be her first Olympic Games.
Which US athletes have earned quotas in Smallbore for Paris 2024?
Mary Tucker - Women’s 50m Smallbore Rifle
Tucker, hailing from Sarasota, Florida, will be looking to improve on her 13th place finish at Tokyo 2020 in the 50m Smallbore Rifle individual event, and match or better the silver medal won in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team discipline in Japan. She has also earned a quota spot in the 10m Air Rifle event during the final stage of the Olympic Trials women’s Air Rifle competition held in January 2024.
Sagen Maddalena - Women’s 50m Smallbore Rifle
US Army sergeant Maddalena from Groveland, California, will be looking to improve on her fifth-place finish in 50m Smallbore Rifle at Tokyo 2020. She has also earned a quota spot in the 10m Air Rifle event.
Ivan Roe - Men’s 50m Smallbore Rifle
US Army sergeant Roe from Manhattan, Montana, won a world title in 2022 in the mixed team 50-meter prone rifle and previously served as an alternate at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. This is the first Olympic Games for which Roe has secured a quota in this discipline having already earned a quota in the 10m Air Rifle.
Katelyn Abeln - Women’s 25m Sport Pistol
Abeln, who hails from Douglasville, Georgia, is a student at Ohio State University, competing on the OSU Pistol 2024 National Championship team. This is the first Olympic Games for which she has secured a quota.
Keith Sanderson - Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol
Sanderson, a three-time Olympian from San Antonio, Texas, competed at Rio 2016, London 2012, and Beijing 2008. His best performance was in People's Republic of China, where he earned fifth place in Rapid-Fire Pistol 25m.
When are the shooting events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024?
Fifteen official shooting events will take place at Paris 2024, taking place from 27 July to 5 August at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, one of the largest such facilities in Europe.
The centre will also be used for 13 Paralympic shooting events in 2024.
