We’re heartbroken to be saying farewell to our friend and collaborator of 20 years, Jon Landau. Jon brought tremendous energy to every film he worked on. He spoke passionately about the story and heart of the picture, and his enthusiasm for promoting the work and pushing for excellence was not only endless, but contagious. He challenged you to do better and loved to get in amongst the show crew and share his passion for the work. We felt Jon's steadfast support for our work and crew on every film, every step of the way. He visited every building and had all the time in the world to talk to artists. He was always first to put his hand up to record a message of thanks and he was a mentor to many of our crew. Jon was a pillar in the industry and his generosity of spirit and in sharing his knowledge and experience knew no bounds. Jon was passionate about film and we will miss his friendship and spirited engagement with the Wētā FX team. Our thoughts are with Jon’s family, friends and filmmaking whānau.

Last week, we were honored to have Jane Goodall, PhD, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace, visit Wētā FX while in New Zealand on her “Reasons for Hope” Tour. A few members of the KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES team were able meet Dr. Goodall and take her through the intricate process of creating realistic ape characters like Noa and Raka. Additionally, some of our crew were invited to meet Dr. Goodall a Royal Society Te Apārangi private event hosted by Her Excellency, the Governor-General of New Zealand Dame Cindy Kiro at the Grand Hall in Parliament Wētā FX’s Gino Acevedo said about her visit: "It was so wonderful to see Jane once again to share the experience with some of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes team to show off some of the amazing work that everyone did. She was incredibly impressed and spoke about it the rest of the day. It was a great feeling to get the ‘primate stamp of approval’ from her!" www.janegoodall.org.nz
