At Credible, our mission is to help you make better financial decisions by simplifying the process of comparing and selecting loans, insurance policies and other products. We pursue this mission by providing deeply-researched content to help you learn about your options, whether you’re new to money management or are an experienced optimizer.

Here’s how we aim to gain your trust.

Expert guidance

Whether you’re seeking advice on a tough financial decision, are curious about different strategies or want to compare lenders or companies, Credible’s editorial staff has you covered. All of the Credible content you see on the New York Post is reported and curated by our experienced experts, fact-checked for accuracy, and edited with you, the reader, in mind.

Transparency

We know that finances are far from fun and can often be confusing, even stressful. At Credible, the cure is transparency. Though our partners help us keep the lights on, they have no editorial control over the articles we publish. We want you to learn about your best options.

Safe, secure marketplace

Before Credible, consumers had to endure the process of creating accounts and sharing their data with multiple lenders or companies to find the best personalized rate. Our platform connects you with vetted partners so you can compare offers, all in one place. We also do this without selling your data or harming your credit score.

Credible’s editorial guidelines

Although we do feature products from (and reviews of) our partners, our blog content is deeply researched, and partners don’t have any editorial control over what’s included in our articles. That’s reflected in the key tenets of our editorial guidelines:

  • Authoritative content created by knowledgeable experts
  • Fact-based reporting through journalistic research
  • Diversity in editorial voices to reflect the broad range of our reader audience

To ensure we meet these guidelines, we have established guardrails in our editorial process. We employ experienced vertical editors to vet content for completeness and primary sourcing, then incorporate a copy editing check that doubles-down on accuracy and clarity. At every step of our workflow, we strive for reader-centric content that’s informative and actionable.

Best lenders methodology

Credible’s methodology for rating lenders is as objective as possible: The “best” lenders are evaluated through loan and lender data points in multiple categories to identify the “best companies” for refinancing student loans, private student loans, personal loans, mortgage purchase, and mortgage refinancing. We evaluate lenders with you, the reader, in mind because we want to empower you to make the best financial decisions for your personal finance situation.

Among other categories, we look at interest rates, repayment terms, repayment options, fees, discounts, customer service availability, and more offered by lenders. We also consider each company’s eligibility requirements, whether the minimum credit score is available publicly, and whether consumers could request rates with a soft credit check.
